Guiloy was one of Spain’s pioneering manufacturers of metal scale miniatures, renowned worldwide for its high‑quality motorcycle series and detailed vehicle replicas. Its products earned strong international prestige thanks to excellent craftsmanship, competitive pricing, and refined presentation.
Guiloy: a historic leader in the world of metal scale miniatures
Guiloy is recognized as one of the earliest manufacturers of metal scale miniatures and has enjoyed strong commercial prestige both in Spain and in many international markets. Its line of miniature motorcycles holds a worldwide leading position, offering five distinct series of varied models in 1/30, 1/24, 1/18, 1/10, and 1/6 scales. Between 30% and 35% of its total production was exported to major industrialized countries around the world.
Founded in 1973, GUILOY operated from a 10,000 m² facility, which allowed the company to maintain an impressive level of activity, producing three million pieces per year. In addition to vehicles, GUILOY also manufactured and marketed, under the GIBIE brand, a line of metal weapons including revolvers, pistols, rifles, and high‑quality cases. GUILOY products earned strong commercial appreciation thanks to their excellent balance between quality and price, as well as their refined presentation.
Throughout nearly forty years of impeccable work, Guiloy produced outstanding replicas of both automobiles and motorcycles. Their models were known for:
Solid metal construction
Detailed molds and realistic proportions
High‑quality paint finishes
Functional and decorative elements that enhanced realism
Collectors valued Guiloy miniatures for their durability, authenticity, and the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship.
Despite its long and successful history, Guiloy eventually closed its doors. According to an official document published in the BOE (Boletín Oficial del Estado) on July 13, 2010, the company entered:
Bankruptcy proceedings
Liquidation phase
Suspension of administrative control over its assets
Full commercial dissolution
This process began on June 9, 2010, marking the official disappearance of Guiloy S.A.
The closure of Guiloy represented the end of a significant chapter in the history of Spanish model manufacturing. Its disappearance left a notable void in the market, but it also elevated the value of its existing miniatures, which are now highly sought after by collectors worldwide.
Today, Guiloy models—especially their iconic motorcycle series—are considered valuable collector’s items. Their historical importance, combined with the brand’s reputation for quality, makes these miniatures prized pieces in the world of scale modeling.
Guiloy’s legacy continues to live on through the collectors who preserve and appreciate the craftsmanship of its creations, ensuring that the brand remains a symbol of excellence in the history of metal miniatures.
